INFORMATION FOR REFUGEES FROM UKRAINE
ARRIVAL
- Ukrainian citizens can arrive to the CR without a visa, for a maximum period of 90 days. Subsequently, it is necessary to apply for a long-term visa with the purpose of toleration for 1 year (vízum za účelem strpění).
- As of March 22, 2022, a long-term visa is no longer issued for the purpose of tolerance (visa "D/VS/U"). Act No. 65/2022 Coll. (the "lex Ukraine") has established a temporary protection for citizens of Ukraine and certain other categories of persons. D/VS/U visa holders are automatically transferred to the temporary protection system.
- An Assistance Centre for refugees is located at Hněvkovského str. 65, Brno-Jih. It´s possible to register the stay, apply for a visa, obtain a health insurance and a social assistence. The centre operates Mon, Wed, Fri 8:00 –17:00.

ACCOMMODATION
- BUT has set up an Asylum House to accommodate refugees from Ukraine. If you are interested in accommodation, please send an email to: vutpomaha@vutbr.cz.
HEALTH INSURANCE AND MEDICAL CARE
- To stay in the Czech Republic, you must have a health insurance. In case of employment, the employee is legally insured under public health insurance.
- Applicants for international protection (holders or applicants for a toleration visa or those under the temporary protection) are involved in a public health insurance system as national insured persons. The CR pays the costs associated with health insurance for them.
WORK
- Temporary protection allows free access to the labour market. There is no need to apply for a work permision or an Employee or a Blue card etc.
RESIDENCE MATTERS
- The time limits for a change of residence is 3 days. This means that it is necessary to register in person with the MoI office in Brno within 3 days of a change of residence.
TRANSPORTATION
- Public transport in Brno zones 100 and 101 is free of charge. The transport company DPMB issues special travel cards for this purpose.
