Renovation of faculties, facilities for students and university teams, a new sports hall, investments in healthcare, and other key projects. Masaryk University (MU), South Moravian Region (JMK), and Brno University of Technology (BUT) presented their investment plans for 2025. The event for potential suppliers introduced key projects that are crucial for the region's development and the modernization of its infrastructure.
Brno University of Technology plans to launch a total of 28 projects in 2025, with a total value of 787 million CZK. The most expensive investment project is the renovation of the former Imperial-Royal barracks complex on Údolní and Úvoz streets, involving six buildings that have served the Faculty of Fine Arts at BUT since 2016. "The estimated cost of implementation is 450 million CZK excluding VAT. Work is expected to begin in the summer of 2025 and be completed in the spring of 2027. At the same time, the university is preparing project documentation for the next phase of reconstruction and expansion, which will relocate the Faculty of Architecture so that both art-oriented faculties of BUT will be housed in one location in the future," explains Petr Marvan, head of BUT's Investment Department.
Modifications will also be made to building C3 of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, where a new facility for student organizations will be created. The renovation of the so-called heavy laboratory hall will establish a modern student center for university teams such as TU Brno Racing, BUT Chicken Wings, and the Pneumobil Racing Team. "The existing hall space will be divided into different sections, similar to a traditional manufacturing facility or automotive workshop. These will include a grinding area, CNC machining center, laminating workshop, engine room, and service area. The project will also feature a simulator, an educational center, and a showroom," adds Petr Marvan from BUT. The estimated cost is up to 30 million CZK excluding VAT.
