Microsoft has shown interest in chip start-up DYNANIC from FIT BUT

The Faculty of Information Technology at BUT is achieving excellent results in the development of ultra-fast chip cards based on FPGA technology. This technology was brought to Brno more than twenty years ago by Otto Fučík, now an associate professor at FIT BUT, from his internship in the USA. He laid the foundations for a successful ecosystem, which has led to significant achievements and attracted the attention of the largest technology giants.

In May 2024, experts from FIT BUT, in collaboration with the CESNET association and the company Reflex CES, introduced the fastest network acceleration card to date, capable of monitoring data traffic at up to 400 gigabits per second. More about FPGA technology in an interview with Associate Professor Kořenek.

In November 2024, the university start-up DYNANIC, founded at FIT BUT in 2021 under the name BrnoLogic, received an investment of 14 million CZK from the Tensor Ventures fund and other angel investors. DYNANIC has developed technology that enhances the efficiency and throughput of programmable FPGA chips, which is crucial for high-performance applications, particularly in the development of artificial intelligence and virtual reality. It is developing an operating system that allows customers to program FPGA chips without needing scarce and expensive specialists. This means they can purchase FPGA chips from any manufacturer, such as Intel or AMD, who themselves act as distributors of Czech software. The DYNANIC offices showcase a large number of cards from various manufacturers who send them to Brno to ensure compatibility with the Czech tool. It did not take long for the start-up to catch the attention of Microsoft, one of the world's largest operators of data centers and artificial intelligence services. "We have received some acquisition offers, but we do not want to become a division of a single player; we want to supply the entire market," said Pavol Korček, CEO of DYNANIC, to e15.
