BUT expands cooperation with Cracow University of Technology

„As a part of a successful partnership with Cracow University of Technology (CUT), Faculty of Mechanical Engineering Brno University of Technology has decided to deepen its existing cooperation and signed a framework agreement on 18 January on international cooperation in the implementation of doctoral studies with a jointly supervised doctoral thesis. The doctoral student will thus receive two thesis supervisors, one from the BUT and the other from CUT. Any student who meets the conditions of the CUT Doctoral School Admission Regulations and the conditions in the CUT Dean's Directive on the Admission Procedure and Conditions for Admission to Doctoral Programmes can take advantage of this offer. The first student in this program is Sheng Zhang, who is conducting his research for his dissertation as part of the RESHeat project. This is the first agreement of this type signed by the BUT within the framework of foreign cooperation. The main representative at the meeting was the Vice-Rector for Internationalization Iveta Šimberová and the Vice-Rector for Research Dariusz Bogdal.

The day before, CUT representatives also visited the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, where they held talks with the Dean of the Faculty, Jiří Hlinka. The presentations of the activities of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Energetics revealed a number of areas where there is potential for cooperation in the field of science and research or education (for example, foreign internships of PhD students). The visit also included a tour of two laboratories: the fluid engineering laboratory, which was guided by the head of the department, Associate Professor Pavel Rudolf who introduced delegation the activities of his research team, including project called CaviPlasma , The second laboratory was the aeronautical testing room, where guests were guided directly by the Dean the FME, who is himself a researcher in the field of aviation.
