Erasmus Days marked by cleaning and awards

The Internationalization Department of Brno University of Technology (BUT) organized several themed events as part of this year’s Erasmus Days. Students and staff participated in cleaning up the surroundings of the university faculties, attended a photo exhibition opening, and shared their experiences from study and internship stays abroad.

In collaboration with the initiative "Let’s Clean Up the Czech Republic," the event Let’s Clean Up Brno took place on Tuesday, October 15th. Volunteers went to the area around the BUT faculties located in the Brno Technology Park and started cleaning up. Both students and staff pitched in, and together they collected over ten bags of trash.

In addition to the clean-up, the event provided an opportunity for participants to meet and discuss their international experiences. Each volunteer received a small travel-themed gift at the end.

On Thursday, October 17th, the opening of a photography competition exhibition on the theme of Future-Excellence-Technology took place in the BUT Rectorate Hall. The exhibition featured 35 photographs from last year’s international stays, showcasing what students of BUT see as the future, excellence, and technology.

The best photographs were awarded at the exhibition, selected by both an expert jury and the public in a vote. A total of 75 photographs were submitted for the competition. The winning photograph, according to the jury, was taken by Josef Hrdlička from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. The public’s favorite was a photograph titled "Persistence of Technology," taken by Radim Zlámal, also from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. All the winners received a financial prize and a small gift.

Both events of this year’s Erasmus Days were thematically linked with the Green Erasmus+ program and the celebrations of BUT's 125th anniversary.
