Success of BUT Shooters at the FISU World University Championship in Shooting Sport

Students of the Brno University of Technology (BUT) recently participated in the 9th FISU World University Championship in Shooting Sport, held in India's capital, New Delhi, and achieved outstanding results. The most notable success was achieved by Jakub Kostelecký from the Faculty of Civil Engineering (FCE), who, together with Jan Palacký and Ondřej Šťastný, both from Mendel University, secured a gold medal in the Trap discipline.

“From the WUC in Shooting Sport, held in New Delhi, I’m bringing home a gold team medal in the Trap discipline. Alongside Jan Palacký (MENDELU) and Ondřej Šťastný (MENDELU), we claimed victory in the team competition, becoming world university champions for 2024,” commented Jakub Kostelecký on his recent sports success. The team’s victory in this prestigious competition is a significant achievement.

Another prominent representative of BUT was Martina Matějková from the Faculty of Business and Management (FBM), who is this year’s European champion and world team champion. Although she didn’t win a medal this time, her performances were remarkable. “Unfortunately, I didn’t bring home a medal this time, but I placed 7th in the individual competition and 4th in the mixed competition (note: mix with Ondřej Šťastný),” said Martina Matějková.

Other talented shooters representing BUT at the WUC included Richard Křivánek (FBM) and Ondřej Cervan (FEEC). Their performances contributed to the overall excellent result, highlighting the high standard of BUT’s representation at international competitions.
