The university organized the first EULiST Day at BUT
On Thursday, November 28, 2024, the Brno University of Technology (BUT) hosted the first EULiST Day, focusing on communicating the ideas and goals of the European University Alliance EULiST. The event aimed to introduce the opportunities offered by the alliance to the BUT academic community and to demonstrate how it can actively contribute to fostering cooperation with the other nine member universities across Europe.
The morning session presented the individual work packages coordinated by BUT within the EULiST framework. Martin Očko, the local project coordinator at BUT, delivered the opening remarks, followed by presentations from Jiří Hirš, Zbyněk Křivka, Vítězslav Máša, Zdeňka Pavlačková, and Kamil Gregorek, who lead specific focus areas of the project. BUT’s priorities within the alliance, including sustainability, digitalization, and enhancing student and staff mobility, were highlighted.
The afternoon session was opened by the Rector of BUT, Ladislav Janíček, with a presentation on managing the alliance as a new form of cooperation among European universities. The program continued with a discussion on the strength of collaboration within the Central European triangle of Brno–Vienna–Bratislava, featuring coordinators from TU Wien and STU Bratislava. The day concluded with presentations on support opportunities for activities and mobility for BUT students and staff within EULiST, paving the way for further development in international cooperation.
“I am pleased that one year after launching our European University EULiST project, we were able to organize an event exclusively focused on communicating the ideas of cooperation with our nine closest European partners internally at BUT,” said Martin Očko.
EULiST Day was the first event of its kind, and according to the organizers, it will be followed by numerous activities in collaboration with the faculties. Through this initiative, BUT continues its efforts to connect the academic community at the European level and contribute to the development of a sustainable, digital, and inclusive educational environment within the EULiST alliance.
