VUT Cavaliers vs. MUNI: The hockey derby of the year is here!

Adrenaline, excitement, and a great atmosphere. The Hokejový souboj univerzit returns to the Winning Group Arena in Brno on Wednesday, October 16. On the ice, traditional rivals VUT Cavaliers Brno and HC MUNI will face off. Last year, the Brno Hokejový souboj univerzit was recorded in the Czech Book of Records. During the second period, they created a noise of 118 decibels in a sold-out arena, surpassing the previous record holders, the hockey fans from Havířov, by five decibels.

The long-awaited Hokejový souboj univerzit will take place on Wednesday, October 16, and is among the most popular student events. VUT Cavaliers Brno will take on their rival, HC MUNI, in a prestigious match as part of the University Ice Hockey League. Additionally, the match is part of the celebrations for the 125th anniversary of VUT, promising an unforgettable atmosphere.

The program will start at 5:00 PM at the Winning Group Arena, where fans can look forward to a new feature – instead of the traditional parade, a fan zone will be prepared on the arena's balcony. There will be a rich accompanying program, including competitions, activities with event partners and music provided by a DJ. Don’t miss out on the hockey merchandise, including jerseys from last season, available in the balcony area.

At 7:00 PM, the match itself will take place, attracting a maximum capacity of 7,700 spectators. Tickets sold out even earlier than last year, ten days before the match.

VUT Cavaliers Brno, established in 2017, will take to the ice with a new lineup supplemented by talented players who successfully passed this year’s tryouts. The team trains in Kuřim, where all their home games are also held. For fans, a bus service is provided for all home games from the stops Nerudova, Červinkova, and Kolejní. Additionally, this season, VUT Cavaliers Brno will be wearing special anniversary jerseys with the university logo.

The preparation for the match is proceeding as usual, just like for all regular games. So far, the Cavaliers have played three matches. On Saturday, they will play their fourth match against ČZÚ Farmers in Prague, and the derby against MUNI will be the fifth match of the season.

After the hockey game, visitors can look forward to the afterparty, which will take place at 9:30 PM at Zoner BOBYHALL. Tickets are still available on the official website of the match, and transport is provided by buses right after the game.
