The Faculty of Architecture hosts the 20th International Conference Healthy Houses 2024
Brno, December 11, 2024 – The Faculty of Architecture at Brno University of Technology (BUT) cordially invites you to the 20th Jubilee Edition of the International Scientific Conference Healthy Houses 2024, which will take place on Friday, December 13, 2024. The conference, organized in cooperation with the Clay Building Association (Sdružení hliněného stavitelství z.s.), offers the latest insights into building techniques using unfired clay and their significance for contemporary architecture and heritage conservation.
This year's theme is "Local Building Techniques with Unfired Clay: Methods for Describing, Diagnosing, and Restoring Clay Structures". The program features a wide range of lectures by Czech and international experts on topics such as diagnostics, innovations, and restoration of clay constructions, including practical demonstrations of their use. The official languages of the conference are Czech, Slovak, and English.
Highlights of the program include:
- Housing Crisis Solutions During the Interwar Period (PhDr. Martin Novotný, Ph.D.)
- Efficient Processing of Local Clay (Mgr. art. Roman Miškov)
- Building with Earth in Serbia – Ancient Techniques and Recent Rehabilitations (Dragana Kojičič)
- Using Laser Scanning for Creating Digital Twins of Buildings (Ing. Jan Müller, Ph.D.)

The conference is co-organized by the Faculty of Architecture and Design, Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (SK) and the ArTUR Civil Association (SK). The event is held under the auspices of the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at BUT, Ing. arch. Radek Suchánek, Ph.D.
This conference is supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic within the NAKI III program – a framework for applied research in the field of national and cultural identity for 2023–2030 as part of the project DH23P03OVV049. "One of the Most Threatened Groups of the Czech Republic's Historic Building Fund: Unique Clay Building Technologies Using Mud Bricks and Methods of Their Preservation."
