The graduate is ready for an independent scientific and research work in the field of architecture and urban design theory, is able to solve practical problems in the field of architecture and urban design independently and at a scientific level, publishes outcomes of both practical and theoretical activities, also in any of the world languages, is able to teach at a higher-education institution.

Entry requirements
The master degree qualification in the branch of architecture or similar achieved at a higher-education institution in the Czech Republic or a school of architecture abroad. Passing successfully the admission examination during which the applicant proves his/her interest and expert knowledge for a research work.

The output of the dissertation is the determination of urban and architectural design principles of building in the landscape for agro tourism with respecting to the requirements of sustainable development of the countryside. Design principles will be verified experimentally in student's workshop.

The topic shall provide a solution for a missing dialogue between architectural practice, investment groups and municipalities. As the main tool the development strategy for the architectural restoration of the built industrial heritage will be introduced.
The main motive is a systematic approach to the current problems of urban development in a postindustrial age. The aim is to compare approaches and solutions to the problems of transformation of the former Industrial areas in the industrial as well as important university cities in the central Europe. The theme is focused on the new trends in urban strategies.

Search for the new and current concepts for the renewal and revitalization of religious buildings and premises in the new social and urban context. The theme is focused on assessing the potential of existing unused or underused religious buildings and premises for new functions while preserving their cultural architectural and urban values.
Pluralism of post-modern period, globalization and purposes of sustainable development bring new requirements into our city organisation and our settlement of country-side. Do our settlements and their traditional compositional elements comply with the needs of the near future ? Is the corresponding form compact city or garden city ?

Pedestrian zones and their functional structure underwent in past through many different forms and functions. The task is to find and determine prerequisite for well functioning form of pedestrian zones appropriate to the city of today while foreseeing the future needs of city transportation.
