Technical equipment at the Institute of Forensic Engineering
Computer classrooms
The Institute has two computer classrooms containing 2x31 PCs (1 for the teacher, 30 for the students). Outside the scheduled classes students can use the classrooms for self-study. The classrooms are on the 5th floor:- • classroom 5.15 – was newly equipped through the OP RDE ROSTU project, namely with: PC (Intel i5-8400 6 cores, 8 GB RAM, 250 GB SSD) + 24" LCD monitor, SW for property valuation, budgeting, analysis of road accidents, the FMEA analysis, etc. (the timetable in STUDIS can be found here - after log-in)
- • classroom 5.09 – older PCs (made in 2009) + 19" monitors, SW similar to that in classroom 5.15 (the timetable in STUDIS can be found here - after log-in)
Laboratories
The forensic engineering laboratories are equipped with devices used in road accident analysis, property valuation, assessment of defects and failures in technical equipment etc. They include the following:
- geodetic devices (geodetic total station GPT-7000i with digital image technology, geodetic GNSS, geodetic total station GTS-212, autoreducing tacheometer BRT-006),
- a device for measuring the driving dynamics of vehicles (XL meter, PerformanceBox, VBox Video HD2, VBox sport and others),
- the Rio device for measuring the driving dynamics, crash tests etc. including equipment for doing the crash tests (pull starting device, vehicle control and braking etc.),
- devices for measuring luminous quantities (luminance meter, luxmeters),
- devices for measuring lengths (laser rangefinder, tape measures, measuring wheels),
- recording devices (HD video cameras, cameras, a drone),
- devices for vehicle diagnostics (BOSCH KTS and others),
- vibration meter, sound level meter,
- robotic head for panoramic photography,
- contact and contactless thermometers,
- endoscope
- devices for measuring fine and ultrafine particles (OPS 3330, CPC 3007, SidePak AM520, Airchek)
- and others.
More equipment is currently being purchased as part of the OP RDE project.
The devices are used in practical seminars in the accredited degree programme courses taught at the Institute.
