Journal Citation Reports 2024

Clarivate introduces Journal Citation Reports (JCR) 2024, which delivers simplified journal rankings with consolidated categories and unified rankings.

Journal Citation Reports (JCR) is an annual tool that provides trusted information on scientific journals and is considered a key resource for assessing the quality and relevance of journals in the scientific community.

In 2024, Clarivate introduces a new version of the JCR, building on previous changes and incorporating unified rankings across research categories that now include journals from the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), making it easier to compare and rank journals within their fields.

The new "category-first" approach removes the link between edition and category, making it easier to examine all journals in a given category. However, in the Czech environment of science assessment according to Methodology 17+, the change requires more attention of scientists when selecting a journal for publication, especially due to the non-acceptance of articles for assessment published in ESCI edition journals.
