On the project

Water scarcity remains as a global challenge due to the ever-increasing human population and the excessive resource requirements. In this project, utilization of calcium carbonate micromotors with precise targeting capacity is proposed for the purification of water against widely encountered pollutants. The designed multilayer micromotor structure, having photocatalytic and magnetic properties, enables removal of heavy metals and organic pollutants at the same time. In addition, the abundance of calcium carbonate in nature highlights its potential as a scalable water purification system.

The aim of the project is to create a competition for student research grants and its pilot verification. The creation of a new competition will contribute to the development of cross-sectional skills of doctoral students, and thus acquire competencies for work in science and research in the future and increase their success in submitting scientific projects to national and international competitions.
