The aim of these lectures is widening the theoretical basis of one of the most important artistic phenomena of the 20th century: international dimension of surrealism.

Conceptual resources of the surrealist movement in literature (Breton), the impact of Dada on Surrealism, definition and characteristics of surrealism
chief personalities and their art (Magritte, Miró, erns, Dalí, Giacometti, Oppenheimová, Raz, Tanguy), interdisciplinary overlapings, periodization, artistic generations, main centres (Paris, Belgium, Germany, Spain, England, the USA)
the influence of surrealism on the following artistic production

Aims

Student will acquire wider knowledge about the changes of surrealism's international context and its connection to the historica developments of art.
