Ecological Conflicts in Water Management

Course focuses applied problems of landscape ecology, stressing mainly ecological function of forest, landscape ecology and environment protection from the point of view of technique and future civil engineer.
Information on the origin and solution of the environmental conflicts in water management with respect to past experiences that were obtained during project development, construction and operation of several big water structures (Gabčíkovo, Nové Mlýny, etc.), with respect to interaction of the structure and the environment. As a managed discussion on proposed and problematic structure, the navigation canal Dunaj - Odra - Labe will be thoroughly analysed.
