Specialization: Leisure Movement Activities

Students will gain an overview of available recreational movement activities, and learn the importance of movement activities in the formation of the optimum physical and psychological development of children, youths and adults within the context of staying healthy and increasing one's resistance. Students will be acquainted with the issues involved in the organization, management and leadership of movement and sporting activities for children, youths and adults.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will gain an overview of available recreational movement activities, and learn the importance of movement activities in the formation of the optimum physical and psychological development of children, youths and adults within the context of staying healthy and increasing one's resistance. Students will be acquainted with the issues involved in the organization, management and leadership of movement and sporting activities for children, youths and adults.

Prerequisites

Pracically applicable knowledge and skills from the physical training subjects studied as pat of the bachelor's course.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Awarding of credit:
Attendance of lectures and practical lessons.

Form of the examination and the final classification of the subject:
Submission of the student's own healthy lifestyle programme (50 points) and a written test (50 points).

Course curriculum

- Pedagogical and psychological problems of children and the adult population.
- The importance of movement in the life of a person. Performance and enjoyment. Motivation.
- Options for children, adults and seniors to engage in sporting activity (from the aspect of the health, spatial, time, financial and material requirements of individual activities, as well as dependence upon other people).
- Sports training. Suitable and less suitable sports and movement activities from the point of view of health.
- Variants and alternatives in the suitable movement regime for adults in individual sports.
- Games in the lives of children and adults. Sports for the whole family.
- Events, competitions for adults and families with children. Company events. Company sport.
- Management, leadership and the organization of recreational movement activities
- Practical lessons - suitable kinds of physical activity according to an individual's age and state of health; contents of healthy lifestyle programmes.

Aims

The aim of the subject is to acquaint the students with the ways and means of cultivating the creative powers of children, youths and adults. It also aims to prepare the students, from the theoretical as well as the practical point of view, for the management and organization of free-time movement activities at the "trainer/instructor" level. The subject focuses mainly on health and suitable physical activities, and ways to learn to lead a healthy lifestyle.
