Work Experience: Operation and Maintenance of Physical Training Facilities

The practical part of the tuition is focused on an introduction to the specific activities which are needed for the seasonal maintenance of outdoor sports facilities. The subject is built on the basic knowledge of suitable techniques, materials and planning used in the individual work activities in a given season at a selected sports facility: Maintenance of grass areas, mowing, watering and fertilization. Maintenance of artificial surfaces. Preparation of tennis courts. Mechanical equipment - its use and maintenance. Method of planning the maintenance of seasonal sports facilities.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Awarding of credit:
Completion of a two-week long practical training programme, with written confirmation from the relevant workplace (40 points) and a seminar thesis (60 points).

Aims

The aim is to obtain further theoretical knowledge from the field of maintenance of grass sports surfaces, soft surfaces and mechanical equipment which deals with this activity and assess it in practical situations. Students will be introduced to practical activities needed for the regular maintenance of mainly outdoors sports facilities.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Active participation in practical training and independent production of a seminar thesis.
