Sport Games

FP-TshPAcad. year: 2011/2012

The subject focuses on the obtaining of basic knowledge and skills in collective, individual ball and racquet sports, and in non-traditional games. The aim of the tuition is to understand the meaning of individual games in the life of a person (health and relaxation, sociological and social) and to explain the term 'non-traditional' sports. Regarding individual games, the following aspects are taught: their history, recommended optimum sports equipment, explanations of rules, the differences and similarities between the individual games, including their requirements in terms of spatial and locomotive skills, stroke technique, tactics, practical games, competitions, tournaments and their organisation.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Orientation in the issues of collective, individual and non-traditional games, including their modifications. Basic hygienic norms will be studied for selected games as well as measures for the prevention of injury. Also included is the art of motivation in movement-based games with the aim of promoting enjoyment, the development of locomotive abilities and skills, and an increase in body fitness.

Knowledge of human biology and basic orientation in games.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Awarding of credit:
Active participation in the directed tuition. Test of knowledge (max. 50 points). Written thesis - preparation of tournaments (propositions + game system + organization + processing of results - max. 50 points).

- Learning of basic skills involved in the playing of selected games, and the rules.
- Application of gained knowledge and skills to the organisation of people's free time.
- Obtaining of a sufficient amount of information about suitable clothing and equipment for the individual activities.
- The ability to motivate clients is acquired.
- Basic hygienic norms for the given sports, including measures for the prevention of injury.
- For the individual games, the following aspects are taught: their history, recommended optimum sports equipment, explanations of rules, the differences and similarities between the individual games including their requirements in terms of spatial and locomotive skills, stroke technique, tactics, practical games, competitions, tournaments and their organisation.
- Selected sports: Badminton, table tennis, squash and ricochet. Basketball, streetball, korfball. Volleyball, beach volleyball, ringo. Floorball, hockeyball, ice hockey. Tennis, golf. Football, footsall, hall football, football-tennis. Softball, baseball, frisbee. Handball, Czech handball, beach handball.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Participation in the introductory theoretical seminar within the framework of the selected blocks of sports, preparatory exercises, games, and preparation of a test of knowledge. Any absence requires an official letter giving the reason for absence - substitution for the tuition in the case of more than one duly excused absence.
