The practically oriented course is composed of two autonomous thematic blocks. The first deals with the legal regulation of cybercrime prosecution and investigation. The presentation progresses in five lessons from general concepts to specific practical application. Students are first introduced to the basic concepts of cybercrime and its systematic links to other areas of law, such as cyber security. Next, both the substantive legal aspects of cybercrime are introduced, in the form of an interpretation of the specific facts of the relevant offences, and the procedural legal aspects of the securing and handling of electronic evidence. This more theoretical presentation is followed by a practically oriented lesson in which the practice of investigating and prosecuting cybercrime will be presented. The first session will conclude with an explanation of the broader international context, focusing on the investigation of cross-border crime, as the territoriality of national jurisdiction poses one of the major challenges in the context of borderless cyberspace. The second block, also consisting of five lessons, focuses on data protection and data governance. The method of presentation again follows the basic line of thought from the general to the specific. The block is introduced by a lecture in which the basic concepts of data and information are introduced and a general explanation is given on the legal protection of privacy and its relation to data protection legislation. The second lecture offers an overview of the basic principles and principles of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as the basic regulation applied in this area. Moreover, it is a regulation that relies heavily on the application of the basic principles and a thorough interpretation of them is thus essential. The third lecture is closely related and presents the basic rights of the data subject and the obligations of the controller. The fourth lecture deals specifically with international data flows, given that this is a dynamic topic that has undergone a number of changes in recent years and, moreover, these flows represent a major economic value. The final lecture is devoted to the application of data protection rules in the Czech environment and the national specifics of the application of the discussed regulation are presented. It also includes a practical example of compliance in the area of personal data protection.
