Special Toxicology

The science of Toxicology. Terminology of Toxicology. Principles of toxicology. The relation of dose - effect. Manifestations of molecular, cell and organ toxicity. Biotransformation of xenobiotics. Toxicology characteristics of elements, metals, inorganic and organic compounds. Environmental pollutants (oxides - sulphur, nitrogen, etc., ozone, nitrates, cyanides, PAH, PCB, dioxins, other pollutants into industrial production). Toxicology of industrial products and toxic pollutants (benzene, asbestos, and products of oil industry, etc.). Toxicological important compounds in food, toxicity in foods. Phytotoxicology, effets of fungal, plant, animal toxins. Carcinogenesis, mutagenesis, teratogenesis (molecular mechanism of processes, natural and synthetic mutagenic and carcinogenic agents). Radiotoxicology, chemical warfare agents. Product safety, International monitoring of hazardous groups of chemicals and materials. The classification of chemical compounds in CZ and EU, actual legislative.

Knowledges in the field on Special toxicology - toxicology of elements, hazardous metals, inorganic, organic and complex compounds. Biotransformation of of Xenobiotics. Toxicity of Environmental Pollutants. Toxic agents, poison in food, nature. Carcinogenesis, mutagenesis, teratogenesis, Oxidative Stress. Product safety and actual legislative of chemicals.

Basic knowledges of general toxicology, inorganic, organic chemistry, environmental chemistry, biochemistry.

Course curriculum

1. Introduction of Special Toxikology, Contents, Terminology, Principles (Exposure, Dose, Toxicity, Limits).
2. The interaction of toxic compounds wit organism. Manifestations of molecular, cell and organ toxicity.
3. Xenobiochemistry. The fate of chemical compounds in organism, pathways of toxic compounds and metabolites.
4. Toxicology of elements, hazardous metals, inorganic compounds, mechanism of interactions of metals in body. Metal transport and metabolism.
5. Toxicology organic and organometallic compounds.
6. Environmental pollutants. Industrial toxicology.
7. Effects of fungal and mushroom, plant, animal toxins on human body. Important toxins of microbes (bakteria, micromycota), fungi (edible, nonedible), plants, animals. Metabolites of plants, animals. Toxicological important micro and macromycetes.
8. Carcinogenesis, mutagenesis, teratogenesis (molecular mechanism of processes, inhibitors, inductors, natural and synthetic mutagenic and carcinogenic agents), Teratogenesis, teratogene.
9. Chemical warfare agents.
10. Product safety, International monitoring of hazardous groups of chemicals and materials. The classification of chemical compounds in CZ and EU, actual legislative of chemicals.
