Learning outcomes of the course unit

Be well informed about basic terms of economy, differentiation between macroeconomics and microeconomics. Understanding of economic definitions, principles of national and international economics.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of economic and socio-scientific branches on high school level.
Basic knowledge of business economics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Students will be evaluated on the basis of a seminar paper on a given topic. Both the paper content and size will be taken into consideration.

2. Macroeconomics. Definitions and goals. Supply and demand.
3. Gross domestic product as an economics performance measure.
4. Fiscal policy and international commerce. Economic cycles. Central banking.
5. Inflation and unemployment. Supply and demand. Consumer behaviour.
6. Company organisation. Accounting essentials.
7. Production theory. Cost analysis.
8. Competition and antimonopoly policy.
9. Wages, incomes and profits. Public revenue distribution. Labour market.
10. Capital, interest and profit.
11. Markets and economic efficiency. Economic role of the government. Expenses and taxation.
12. Development of economic thinking. Theory of economic growth.
13. International commerce. Exchange rates. International financial system.
