Radio and Mobile Communication

General schematic diagram of a radio communication system. Frequency bands. Modulation techniques. Source and channel coding. Equalisation. Diversity reception. Concept of mobile communication systems. Multiple access systems. Mobile communication networks topology. Spread spectrum techniques at present radio communication systems. Description of 2G systems (GSM, DECT, ERMES), 2,5G systems (GPRS, HSCSD, EDGE) and 3G systems (UMTS, Bluetooth, WLAN, WiMAX). Next generation mobile systems.

Student make the one's acquaintance structure modern communications system, mobile system and with used of signal processingmethod such as data coding, modulation, ekvalisation, space diversity, and so on.

Purposes object is acquaint student with the architecture of modern radio communication systems and signal processing such as source coding, channel coding, modulation techniques, equalisation, diversity reception, etc.

2. Signal processing, source coding, channel coding.
3. Signal processing, interleaving, digital modulations.
4. Basic concept and functions of radio communication systems, multiple access systems and multiplexing methods, methods of transmission, area structure, frequency band utilization, handover, types of connection.
5. Distortion phenomenons and their limitation, Doppler phenomenon, equalisation, diversity reception.
6. GSM system, introduction, frequency bands, system architecture.
7. System GSM, signal processing.
8. System GSM, data transmission, GPRS, HSCSD, EDGE, specialities of GSM 1800 system, TEMS programme.
9. UMTS system, system architecture.
10. UMTS system, signal processing.
11. Cordless telephone systems, introduction, DECT standard. Paging, RDS system, ERMES system.
12. Future systems, Bluetooth system, WiFi system, WiMAX system, Flarion system. ZIGBEE system. Future of mobile communications, trends.
