Course curriculum

Substations in power system, nominal voltage and a operation mode of electrical networks
Scheme of basic substation circuit - their features and use, operation manipulation in substation, apparatus blocking
HV MV LV switchgear - outdoor, gas-insulated, auxiliary control panel and control center substation - version and operating features
Cable line - construction and marking, electric features of cables, conductors designing and protection
Overhead line - mechanical features of hanging wires, overhead line parameter calculation, wires for overhead line, poles, insulators and armatures, safety zone

Aims

Make students familiar with equipment and technologies used for electric power distribution as well as the basic methods of the designing of the equipment.

Scheme of basic and auxiliary branch - their features and use, group structure of branch operation
Operation manipulation in substation - apparatus blocking
HV substation - outdoor substation, gas-insulated, auxiliary control panel and control center
MV substation - version and operating features
LV switchgear - configuration and structure of switchboard
Power station operation control - control system, its providing and abilities
Protective system in power station - substation protection, lighting protection, protection against danger contact voltage
Overhead line - wires for overhead line, poles, insulators and armatures, safety zone
Insulated overhead line MV and LV - wires, attachment, protection equipment
Cable line - construction and marking, electric features of cables
Cable line - cable sets and accessories

Conductors designing in respect to maximum allowable working temperature of cable core and voltage drop, economical conductor cross-section.
Conductors designing in respect to short-circuit current thermal effect
Conductors designing in respect to short-circuit current mechanical effect
Conductors protection in electric power distribution - overload and short-circuit protection, assigning of protective elements
Installed capacity of transformer station - examples of calculation and transformer station disposition
