Fundamentals of TV Technology

Basic principles of TV transmission. Structure and properties of video-signal, in the time and frequency areas. TV standards.TV colorimetry.
Camera tubes and CCD sensors, TV colour cameras. Colour picture tubes, monolithic flat displays and projection systems. Magnetic and optical recording of video-signals. Analogue composite colour TV standards. TV standards PALplus, MAC. Distribution of the TV signals. A/D conversion of video-signals. European standard of DVB. TV receivers - block structure.

Students shall be acquired knowledges about the methods and technical devices for scanning, monitoring, recording of the video-signals, about the world's TV standards, analogue composite coulour systems and about the TV receivers block structures

Aims

Acquirement of the knowledges about the methods and technical devices for scanning, monitoring, recording of the video-signals, TV standards, coulour composite TV systems, distribution of TV signals and about the block struktures of TV receivers

2.World's TV standards. Composite video-signal. TV signal.
3.Distortions of the video-signals and their corrections.
4.Basic of TV colorimetry
5.Scanning of video signals - camera tubes, monolithic image sensors CCD, TV colour cameras.
6.Colour picture tubes and monolithic flat displays, projection systems.
7.Record of video-signals - types, principles and standards of the magnetic and optic video- signals.
8.Composite analogue TV colour standard NTSC.
9.Composite analogue TV colour standards PAL,SECAM.
10.Distribution of TV signals. TV transmitters.
11.D/A conversion of video-signal. European standard of DVB.

1.Specification of special measurig devices in laboratory of TV technology. Comment of laboratory exercise 1 - 8 (2 hours).
2.Measurement of viedo amplifier parameters (2 hours).
3.Measurement of composite colour video-signals (2 hours).
4.Measurement of TV amplitude modulator (2 hours).
5.Measurement of CATV signals (2 hours).
6.Measurement of composite signals (NTSC, PAL) by vectorscope (2 hours).
7.Measurement of TV receiver parameters (2 hours).
8.Measurement of the output stage of line scanning(2 hours].
9.Measurement of the digital TV DVB-S reception parameters (2 hours).
10.Demonstration of reception and transmission of standard DVB-T signal (2 hours).
11.Reserve excercise, credit (2 hours).
