Environmental Legislative

The course is concerned with the role of law in environmental protection and with the basic summary of individual parts of legislature concerning the protection of the environment both in general part of legal regulations (common for all parts of environmental protection) and parts of particular environmental components.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Students will be made familiar with the legal system of the Czech Republic, they know the basics of international law and they can work with legislative documents.

Prerequisites

Students' knowledge corresponds to the first three semesters of the study at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Graded course-unit credit requirements: Students must present a paper themed to excursions and the semester paper. At the end of semester students present their knowledge of the subject matter.

Aims

The goal of the course is to make students familiar with the basic principles of environmental legislation, legal institutions and their mutual relations and principles of their application.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Attendance at seminars is checked. The written report has to be done when a seminar was missed.

1. Basic terms, subject of legal regulation, legal regulation method, basic principles, legal parameters.
2. The law system of the Czech Republic, international law system and differences from Czech law system.
3. Environmental rights of Constitution, right to favourable environment, environmental law.
4. Right to environmental information, public participation at environmental protection.
5. Legal tools for priority collision solving by the landscape planning law.
6. Environmental law prevention, integrated prevention law.
7. Prevention of major break down.
8. Legal mode of land protection.
9. Legal mode of water sources protection.
10. Legal mode o fair protection.
11. Legal mode of waste treatment.
12. Legal mode of chemical agents treatment.
13. Legal mode of package treatment.
