The course is focused on a very actual topic, whose importance is growing. Particular methods and strategies of minimization of production and consumption impacts on the environment are studied.

Students learn methods and procedures of minimization of production and consumption impacts on the environment.

Prerequisites

Knowledge corresponding to the study of the first five semesters of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering is assumed.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Graded course-unit credit requirements: Attendance at seminars, students present a paper concerning excursions and a semester paper. At the end of semester student demonstrate their knowledge of the subject matter.

Aims

The goal of course is to make students familiar with the theory of environmental management and environmental protection in practice.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Active attendance at seminars is checked. The written report has to be done when training was missed. This report has to be produced for verification.

2. Specifications and parameters of biosphere, raw materials and energy sources.
3. Negative influence on particular parts of the environment by increasing production and consumption.
4. Environmental policy, situation in CZ and EU.
5. Environmental policy tools.
6. Cleaner production - history of development, fundamentals and potential.
7. Cleaner production tools.
8. Projects of cleaner production in a firm, communal and regional projects.
9. Life cycle analysis.
10. EIA process, its possibilities and realization procedure.
11. Integrated prevention of environment protection.
12. EMAS programmes, standards of ISO 9000 and ISO 14000.
13. Legislative protection and legislative tools of environmental policy.
