Learning outcomes of the course unit

The basic skill of industrial design students is to link the design of a product appearance with its technical aspects.

Prerequisites

Students are assumed to have the knowledge of fundamentals of design, material science and mechanics of solids, which they have obtained in previous part of their study at FME BUT.

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Terms of the graded course-unit credit: regular participation at seminars, solving all assignments and passing the written test of topics presented at lectures.

Aims

The objective of the course is for students to acquire the knowledge of calculation and design of machine parts, acquire drawing skills and learn how to make 3-D visualizations of machine parts and their assemblies using various graphical techniques including freehand drawing.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Participation in lectures is recommended, participation at seminars is checked and recorded. Education runs according to the week schedule. The way of compensation of missed seminars is specified by the tutor.

5. Design of chains and chain gears.

11. Hydraulical and electrohydraulical mechanisms.

Syllabus

1.-13. Project II. is focused on technical drawings of the gearbox from the course Project I. at the same time drawing studies of simple and more complex parts of gearbox will be reliazed using various graphical technics. In conclusion, 3-D drawing of the gearbox will be created from 2-D data using selected graphical technics.
