Machine Design

FSI-CKP-KAcad. year: 2009/2010

Design of machine parts and mechanisms with the aim to ensure a reliable function and good operating parameters. Calculations for verification of reliability and strength in terms of limit states.

Language of instruction

Czech

Number of ECTS credits

5

Mode of study

Not applicable.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

Design of machine parts and mechanisms, computational verification of designed machine parts and mechanisms and evaluation of their reliability for the desired technical life.

Prerequisites

Students are assumed to have the knowledge of fundamentals of design, material science and mechanics of solids, which they have obtained in previous part of their study at FME BUT.

Co-requisites

Not applicable.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Written solution of all assignments (maximal number of points is 5). Two check tests (maximal number of points is 15). Maximal number of points obtained from seminar is 20. Minimal number of points necessary for course-unit credit is 10.
Final test is carried out on electronic testing system. Test with possibility of answers selection is based on lectures and tutorial topics. Maximal number of points obtained from test is 80. Minimal number of points for passing the test is 40. Total number of points is sum of points obtained from tutorial and points obtained from exam test. Minimal number of points is 50 and maximal number of points is 100. Resulting classification is made according ECTS.
