The course is focused on characteristic features of business professional communication. It provides students with the relevant specialist language and professional communication skills they will need in the workplace. The course provides preparation for Business English examinations at B2 level.

Learning outcomes of the course unit

The course at upper-intermediate level (B2 according to CEFR) is designed to prepare students for various economic professions. It will enrich their professional vocabulary and will enable them to express more authoritatively beyond their immediate professional context.

Prerequisites

English exam at intermediate level as minimum (B1 according to CEFR).

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Teaching methods depend on the type of course unit as specified in the article 7 of BUT Rules for Studies and Examinations.

Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes

Course-unit credit is awarded on condition of having attended the seminars actively and worked out all assigned tasks. Students have to pass a credit test reaching 60% points as minimum.

Aims

The course has a practical approach and is intended for pre-service students preparing for work in a business environment.

Specification of controlled education, way of implementation and compensation for absences

Students’ participation and their work in the exercises are systematically controlled. Absence may be compensation for by the agreement with the teacher.
