Building materials

FAST-BI01Acad. year: 2009/2010

Basic information about constitution, basic properties of building materials and their use as building materials.
Testing methods of physical-mechanical properties and durability with a view to destructive methods. Basic deformable characteristics of building materials and their observation.
Properties of building materials according to their division: stone, aggregate, binders, concrete, mortars, building ceramics, metals, timber, high molecular matters, bitumens, insulating materials, composite materials.
Practical laboratory tests of chosen building materials with individual tasks for individual students including elaboration of seminary paper.

9. Metals. Scheme of metallurgical processing.
10. Lumber, Properties and types of lumber.
11. Glass. Glass for building purpose. Fiberglass. Composites.
12. Polymers. Division and properties.
13. Insulating materials.

Acquainting and practising of building material selected basic properties,the ability to realize the basic tests of various kinds of building materials.
