Prof. Shadia Habbal is a prominent figure in solar physics, whose research on the plasma of the solar corona has led to numerous discoveries and significantly contributed to our understanding of solar phenomena. Her collaboration with Prof. Miloslav Druckmüller from Brno University of Technology (BUT), which began in 2007, has resulted in the development of advanced observational methods and technologies for data analysis. Prof. Habbal has played a crucial role in raising the visibility of BUT globally and in gaining international recognition within the scientific community focused on solar corona plasma research, as well as the increasingly relevant topic of studying the Sun's influence on civilization on Earth.
Prof. Sabine Seidler, who served as the rector of Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) from 2011 to 2023, played a key role in deepening collaboration between BUT and TU Wien. As early as 2007, she initiated cooperation with CEITEC BUT, leading to the establishment of a scientific network between the two institutions. In 2010, she initiated a memorandum of understanding between BUT and TU Wien aimed at developing long-term collaboration in advanced nanotechnology and materials science. This has resulted in a significant increase in joint projects and research outcomes. Prof. Seidler also contributed to involving BUT in the EULiST alliance. The collaboration among TU Wien, BUT, and eight other universities culminated in 2023 with the successful approval of the European university EULiST.
