Recommendation of the Rector of BUT due to the spread of coronavirus
Recommendation of the Rector of BUT due to the spread of coronavirus
The Rector of Brno University of Technology recommends the university staff and students arriving from the risk areas affected by the coronavirus epidemic that causes COVID-19, or in case they get into direct contact with infected people, to avoid going out and attending classes or working at the university for the necessary two weeks, even if they do not manifest any disease symptoms. In this context, he recommends all Deans of the faculties and Heads of Departments and Heads of other parts of the University within the necessary period to:
a) give study leave to students whom the mentioned measures concern;
b) allowed the employees whom the mentioned measures concern to work outside the BUT (home office), in the necessary cases to give work leave, which will be considered an obstacle at work on the employer’s side according to § 208 of Labour Code.
Furthermore, in this situation, the Rector of the University does not recommend all employees and students to travel to the countries affected by the virus and to which the Ministry of Health or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs does not recommend traveling.
a) In this context, he recommends all Deans of faculties, Heads of Departments and Heads of other parts of the University not to advise students to go on study visits or to arrange business trips for employees to these areas.
b) In case a business trip abroad has been already planned and costs would arise because of its cancelation, it is necessary to contact the insurance company and deal individually about the cancellation fees for the cancelled business trip.
The Rector also recommends all Deans of Faculties, Heads of Departments and Heads of other parts of the University:
a) to arrange appropriate hygiene measures at their workplaces which may limit the spread of the infectious disease, e.g. by providing and placing hand sanitizers, etc.
b) at the same time to take measures against the spread of other infectious diseases, inter alia in the context of a common influenza epidemic, and recommend appropriate treatment outside the workplace in accordance with the applicable rules on incapacity for work, to reduce the risk of spreading infection in the workplace.
