Twenty-five volunteers from BUT decided to go to the area affected by the tornado on Wednesday, July 14, despite the stormy weather. The university provided bus transport there and back and also agreed with volunteer assistance coordinators. Thanks to this, those interested could arrive at places where their help is still needed, specifically in Moravská Nová Ves. If someone else from among the BUT employees and their acquaintances would like to join the work, the event will be repeated again next Wednesday.
Assistance is still needed to deal with the consequences of the disaster, but the number of volunteers has fallen sharply, according to aid coordinators. Primarily manual work is needed (e.g. as helpers for craftsmen).
Next date for which BUT is looking for volunteers from the ranks of employees (or their acquaintances, if they are interested):
With regard to possible labor law complications, it is necessary for employee volunteers to report their leave for the day.

BUT provides bus transport from Brno to the place and then back. Departure will be by BUT bus in the early morning (we will specify the reported volunteers). Return is in the evening. Protective work aids are provided on site, as well as tools. BUT will try to provide lunch for the reported volunteers through the local municipal office.
Those interested in participating can contact Ing. Lenka Jarmarová (jarmarova@vutbr.cz), who coordinates this initiative:
The registered participants will then receive accurate organizational information by email.
