On 22nd March 2011 Brno University of Technology is in cooperation with company Honeywell hosting the opening event of new worldwide Honeywell Initiative for Science & Engineering. The objective of this event is to support more intensive application of scientific research results in practice and help students to be better prepared for application of their academic and scientific knowledge when solving practical issues. Students have the opportunity to meet with laureates of the Nobel Prize for Physics or Chemistry and thus participate in cooperation between current generation of leading scientists and their potential successors through various educational programmes.
Brno University of Technology has been chosen to be the first hosting institution among all partner universities which will be involved in this worldwide initiative.
We would kindly like to invite you to the programme of prof. Douglas Osheroff, laureate of the Nobel Prize for Physics. Within his lecture „How Advances in Science are made“, he will describe research strategies giving example of various well-known discoveries including the one for which he was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1996. This lecture is meant for general public. In the afternoon prof. Osheroff will lead an expert colloquium “The Superfluid Phases of Liquid Helium Three”.
