New software tool helps photographers to go back in virtual reality to the photo location
New software tool helps photographers to go back in virtual reality to the photo location
New software tool developed by researchers from the Faculty of Information Technology BUT brings whole new experience when presenting photos. Team CPhoto@FIT lead by Martin Čadík in cooperation with Adobe Research found a method to incorporate common user photos into the original landscape. That means that the person who is looking at photos has a unique chance to get overall view of place, in which the photo was taken.
The output of Immersive Trip Reports software can be either video with flight over the landscape, or direct walk through the landscape with VR headset. The software was first presented in October 2018 at the conference ACM UIST in Berlin. Besides its main function it can also provide additional information about the place user is looking at, e.g. name of the mounting, its height etc.
In the future this internationally patented tool might be implemented in Adobe software products (e.g. Adobe Lightroom).
