Materials Research Centre (MRC) has fully started its research activities on 1st January 2014. This excellently equipped centre established a close cooperation with companies in the area of inorganic binders, advanced organic materials and biomaterials.
Realization of project Materials Research Centre (reg. no. CZ.1.05/2.1.00/01.0012) started on 1st April 2010. For its starting phase the centre received more than 200 mil. CZK from the operational programme Research and Development for Innovation. More than 60 machines were purchased, many of them being unique not only in the Czech Republic, but also in central and eastern Europe.
„One of MRC‘s advantage a team of scientists from areas such as chemical and structure analysis, physical chemistry, biotechnology and biochemistry, physics, inorganic and organic synthesis“ says the director of MRC prof. Miloslav Pekař.
MRC scientists has already managed to come up with some very important discoveries and the centre cooperates with more than 50 companies on contractual basis. To name some of these discoveries we can inform about success of team lead by doc. Ivana Marova, who developed a method to produce ecological bioplastics from the used oil. Other scientific team is focused on research in advanced organic materials and with their work in electronics and photonics the team lead by doc. Martin Weiter was very successful in realization of large European project on which they worked together with companies such as Merck, Philips or Fiat.
Main task of MRC is to strengthen the cooperation between university team and application sphere via contractual research and fasten the transfer of knowledge and technologies into practice.
