A total of six exhibits were presented by Brno University of Technology (BUT) at the International Exhibition of Defence and Security Technologies IDET and the Fire and Safety Equipment Exhibition PYROS / ISET. BUT displayed especially robots and devices that can effectively use the military, rescue workers and pyrotechnics.
Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Communication of Brno University of Technology (FEEC BUT) presented three robots, two of which were this year's news. "All three exhibits have in common their use of long-distance reconnaissance in outdoor-hard terrain, for example to measure contamination in polluted areas or to search for people," described Luděk Žalud from FEEC BUT. This was an older model of robot Orpheus-AC which can be used particularly for chemical reconnaissance, its improved version Orpheus-Explorer comes with innovative features, notably higher rates of movement and better equipment. The last exhibit the faculty showed was the Scorpio robot whose strengths are best used indoors where it is able to overcome barriers such as stairs thanks to the caterpillar belts.
Another representative of the Brno University of Technology was the Faculty of Information Technology of BUT which displayed the camera head, the image stabilization ISTA and the barrel bore scanner Bascan. All of these exhibits can be used primarily in military industry. The camera head can be particularly used for objects monitoring due to its wide focal length and high resolution. ISTA finds its field of application in the places where video signal is unstable such as in tanks or watch towers. The last machine – Bascan (called” Mole”) is determined for assault guns’ inspection and can detect any internal damage and automatically analyzes the collected data.
