Erasmus BUT Football Match and Workout | Autor: Václav KoníčekIn mid-October, international football was played at the Pod Palackého vrchem sports complex. Six opponents clashed in the event "Erasmus BUT Football Match and Workout". Its aim was to connect the international community at the BUT and celebrate the programme, which has been operating in the Czech Republic for 25 years and enables it to educate students and staff around the world.
The individual football teams were formed on the basis of a national key, with foreign students who are currently on a study stay at the BUT playing for them, together with domestic students who have already travelled to their country of origin thanks to the Erasmus programme.

However, it was not always possible to create line-ups where the players had an attachment to just one country. Therefore, in addition to the Italian and French teams, there were mixed teams of Czecho-Slovakia, France with Germany and Austria, as well as a World team and a Europe team.
A beautiful game of football was played with lots of goals - after all, the best players of the tournament, Baptiste Crespel of Team France and Samuel Omordion of Team World scored 7 goals each. By the way, both of them study at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the BUT.

Third place went to France, beating the World team again on penalties. Fifth was a mixed team of France, Germany and Austria and last was the Czech-Slovak team.
The podium teams received packages with gift vouchers, promotional items and sponsorship gifts from Sanomed and Hudy. However, even the losers could be happy because each participant received a nice sports T-shirt and refreshments from the event partners, BigShock! and Racio.

The winner was Kristýna Šoupalová from the Faculty of Civil Engineering with a time of 1:22 minutes, the second was Jan Janeček from Centre of Sports Activities (1:17 min) and the third place went to Martin Szorád also from the Faculty of Civil Engineering (1:16 min).
The whole event took place thanks to the Department of Internationalization of the BUT and the non-profit organisation Erasmus Student Network.
