On 14 August, Brno University of Technology (BUT) hosted a pilot event Get to Know Admission Office, organized by the Department of Internationalization. The event was designed for international students from all faculties of BUT to introduce them to the services and support of the university and to inform them about student societies and other activities.
Among the participants were students from Egypt, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, South Africa, and India. | Autor: TO VUTDuring the opening part of the event, representatives of the Admission Office introduced themselves, followed by members of the ESN VUT and BEST BUT student societies, who presented opportunities for involvement in student life. The Admission Office also introduced a new concept of the International Ambassador Network, which used to be active before the pandemic. This programme will now be reintroduced by the Department of Internationalisation in cooperation with the Marketing Department to deepen the relationships within the international student community at BUT.
The second part of the programme took the form of a picnic in the Rectorate garden, where students made contacts and shared their experiences of studying at different faculties. Participants included students from Egypt, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, South Africa and India.
The Admissions Office at BUT serves as the main point of contact for current and prospective international students. Its aim is to be there for everyone considering studying at BUT, with an emphasis on providing relevant and easy-to-understand information regarding e.g. the admissions process, recognition of prior education and international student activities.
The event was an important step towards strengthening support for international students as it opened up new opportunities to help them on their journey of starting and advancing their studies.
