Open Call FaVU Gallery 2020

The FaVU Gallery announces a call for submission of exhibition projects of artists and curators. The call is open to individuals, groups or teams from the Czech Republic and abroad. Visual, audiovisual and audio projects responding to the specifics of the exhibition space or current social topics are welcome. The call does not concern diploma and bachelor theses that have just been defended or studio presentations without further conceptual specifications. The concept of exhibition projects is not thematically restricted. The selection criterion is the quality of the exhibition project set in the context of space and time. Within the exhibition season of 2020, 5 projects are expected to be supported. The deadline for the exhibition projects is September 15, 2019. Submitted projects will be assessed by the Gallery Board.

The gallery provides:

  • exhibition space including source of energy
  • security of the exhibition
  • financial coverage of the associated costs of the exhibition up to CZK 8,000
  • basic PR (promotion in media, printing of invitations and posters)

The project submission criteria:

  • timely submission of the project electronically at: simkova@ffa.vutbr.cz
  • the completed application form HERE
  • a brief description of the project including pictorial documentation
  • artist/curator's portfolio including CV

Submitted projects will be assessed by the Gallery Board including: doc. MgA. Pavel Korbička, MgA. Katarína Hládeková, Ph.D., Mgr.A Lenka Klodová, Ph.D., doc. Mgr. Václav Magid, doc. MgA. Rostislav Koryčánek (curator of the Moravian Gallery in Brno), MgA. Jozef Mrva, MgA. Tomáš Plachký (curators of the FaVU Gallery), Mgr. Monika Šimková

The basic information about the gallery:

In 2017, the FaVU Gallery resumed its activities in the new premises of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Brno Technical University on Údolní 244/53. Its program is a continuation of the activities of the Aula Gallery, which was suspended in 2016 due to the relocation of the Faculty. The gallery has returned to its original name, thereby more clearly declaring its mission and at the same time making the institution of which it is an integral part more visible. The FaVU Gallery is a living communicative space for the coming generation of artists and curators under 35 years. It is an experimental laboratory of open dialogue with the academia and the public. It offers a background for professional presentation to young authors not only from among students and doctoral students but also graduates of art schools. The basic mission of the FaVU Gallery is to present excellent results in the field of visual, audio-visual and audio production.
