The delegation from Brno University of Technology (BUT) led by Rector Ladislav Janíček visited on May 4 Leibniz University Hannover (LUH), the coordinator of the EULiST alliance. The aim of the visit was to discuss the future cooperation of both institutions within the EULiST Alliance and between each other.Representatives of BUT and LUH
LUH president Prof. Dr. Volker Epping welcomed the delegation and, together with his colleagues at LUH, furtherly discussed the current and vital topics with BUT representatives. Both rector Janíček and president Epping agreed on the common challenges that technical universities are facing, and the two leaders discussed not only the future of technical education but also the possibilities to deepen the cooperation between the two institutions within the EULiST alliance. „Common visits between EULiST partners are vital for a better overview of the institution’s functioning, finding a common ground, and working on joint projects. And it is important to know we have partners with common interests,“ emphasized rector Janíček. The discussion will furtherly continue during autumn in Brno when LUH delegation will visit BUT.
Apart from discussions, the LUH organized the visit to specific facilities. The delegation could see, for example, the Einstein-Elevator at the Hannover Institute of Technology, a large-scale research device enabling experiments under weightlessness and adjustable gravity conditions, similar to those on Mars or the Moon. The Head of the Work Group, Dr.-Ing. Christoph Lotz provided valuable insight into one of LUH´s excellent facilities for space research conducted in cooperation with, e. g. the Max Plank Institute, among others.Tour of the Einstein Elevator at the Hanover Institute of Technology
