The high-rise building of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering hosted the 20th annual Strojařské schody race on Wednesday, November 13th. Two new records were set: in the Students’ Relay category, "Old guard" triumphed, and among male Alumni, Ondřej Piňos improved his previous record.Strojařské schody 2024. | Autor: Erik PalásekOvercrowded elevators, tension, joy, relief. Such is the atmosphere of the Strojařské schody race, which has been held at FSI since 2000. A several-year hiatus was caused by the reconstruction of the tallest university building in the Czech Republic, after which the organization of the race was taken over by the Student Chamber of the Academic Senate FME. This tradition continues to this day.130 competitors took their places at the start of the 20th anniversary event. In the afternoon, 45 relay teams in the Students and VIP categories also joined the race, including teams from the dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and the Rectorate of Brno University of Technology.The fastest runner of the day was alumnus Ondřej Piňos, who even improved his previous record by completing the stairs in 1:25.46. A new record was also set in the Students’ Relay category, where the team "Stará garda" won gold with a time of 1:08.09.
