Description in EnglishPultruded composite profiles based on thermosetting matrix and glass fiber reinforcement are suitable to replace corrosive steel reinforcement in foamed concrete panels and ceramics in high voltage insulators and power distnbution structures. Mechanicalproperties of the interphase on the fibrous reinforcement surface, only 10-100 nm thick, control stress transfer from the resin into the reinforcement as well as the durability of a composite in corrosive environmnets. Majority of glass fiber manufacturers uses organosilane surface treatments to enhance matrix-fiber adhesion. However, these polycondensated siloxane interphases are not sufficiently hydrolytically stable and undergo a hydrolysis in a moist environment resulting in a loss of reinforcing efficiency of the fibers and a potential failure of the composite structure.
