On the project

Description in English
The proposal aims to elucidate the notch size effect on the service life of structures in creep and creep/fatigue conditions, especially from two points of view: (1) to define the critical notch size below which a notch has no effect on the service lifeof a notched structure, (2) to separate the influence of the notch stress triaxiality from the effect of the notch size. The problem will be solved by a combination of theoretical considera-tions based on numerical calculations and experimental measurements on an advanced 9%Cr steel (type P91). The results obtained will contribute to better knowledge of notch behaviour in creep and creep/fatigue, generally. At the same time they will present a guide for designers who are working with notched structuralcomponents under creep and fatigue/creep conditions and provide necessary data for steel P91.
