On the project

Description in English
The aim of the project is to extend the existing basic variants of the physical-mathematical model of the growth of spheroidal graphite in melt to the area of its eutectic crystallization and to verify this model with the help of experimental heats. To verify the model, inclusive of the thermodynamic, diffusion and phase data on which it's application is based, a quantitative processing of the cooling curves of test specimens of cast irons will be employed, accompanied by a quantitative metallographic analysis of structural components, and by determining the distribution coefficients of elements and mechanical properties, while assuming that in correlation with the cooling curves original data will be obtained on the redistribution of elements during solidification, as wel as data characterizing the growth mechanism, and parameters of both graphite and the cells in cor-relation with the mechanical properties of cast irons and metallurgical characteristics.
