Stanovení počátku pohybu splavenin je nejvíce základní a stále aktuální problém v oblasti říčního inženýrství a sedimentologie. Předchozí experimenty a postupné zlepšování kritérií pro počátek pohybu splavenin přínáší nové důkazy. Cílem provedeného projektu je verifikovat platnost Shieldsova diagramu při vysokých hodnotách reltivní drsnosti ks/h, tj. poměru ekvivalentní pískové drsnosti a hloubky vody ve štěrkonosných řekách. Experimenty byly provedené pro ks/h větší než 0,14 .

Predicting initial sediment transport is the most fundamental and still actual problem in branch of river engineering and sedimentology. The previous experiments and gradual improving of the criteria for inception of sediment transport bring new evidence. The goal of conducted project is to verify the validity Shields diagram at high relative roughness ks/h, a ratio of the equivalent wall surface roughness and the water depth, in gravel river bed. The project deal with process of experiment with final values of Shields criteria at ks/h greater than 0.14.
