On the project

Cílem projektu je vyvinout a otestovat novou magnetoreologickou kapalinu odolnou vůči sedimentaci. Magnetoreologická kapalina bude složena ze železných mikročástic o dvou různých velikostech povlakovaných polymerem, dále z vhodné nosné kapaliny a aditiv. Rychlost sedimentace bude určena měřením změny magnetické vodivosti testované kapaliny v čase. Magnetoreologické kapaliny vykazující dobré výsledky budou testovaný na slit-flow reometru pro určení dynamického rozsahu a životnosti při vyšších teplotách a mechanickém zatížení. Klíčové výzvy výzkumu budou: zkombinování odděleně potvrzených metod zvyšujících sedimentační stabilitu; zajištění vysokého dynamického rozsahu magnetoreologické kapaliny, tj. nízká viskozita v Off-State a vysoký MR efekt v On-State a na závěr určení provozního rozsahu kapalin.

Description in English
The aim of this proposal is to develop and test a novel magnetorheological fluid resistant to sedimentation. Magnetorheological fluid will consist of two different sized iron micro-particles coated with a polymer, suitable carrier fluid and additives. The sedimentation rate will be determined by measuring the changes in magnetic conductivity. Magnetorheological fluids showing good results will be tested in a slit-flow rheometer determine the dynamic range and durability at a higher temperature and mechanical loading. The key research challenges will be: combining a separately confirmed method enhancing the sedimentation stability and synthetized magnetorheological fluid with much better stability; ensuring a high dynamic range of magnetorheological fluid, i.e. low viscosity in Off-state and high MR effect in On-state and finally assessing the operational range.
