Calculation of plasma thermodynamic, transport, and radiative properties

Duration: 08.02.2016 — 31.12.2016

Funding resources

Neveřejný sektor - Přímé kontrakty - smluvní výzkum, neveřejné zdroje

On the project

General objective of this work is to calculate radiative properties to build up a unified database for use within the numerical simulation of electric arcs in switching applications, e.g. low voltage circuit breakers. This effort does focus on air, copper vapor, iron vapor, silver vapor, SF6 and plastic vapor mixtures (including F-related species). Goal is to enable the calculation of radiative properties (spectral absorption coefficient, band averaged absorption coefficient) for various mixtures of these gasses at various temperature and pressure values (see 4.). The calculation results shall be compared with previous results for air, Cu and Cu-air mixtures published by other researchers in order to evaluate the accuracy and validate the calculation code. Additionally the existing band optimization code should be maintained and if required also modified in this project in order to enable full functionality (stability, robustness, convergence).
