On the project

Limb regeneration in salamanders is a unique example for regeneration of a complex body part. The regeneration in salamanders is a well-established model system. However, cell dynamics of shaping during skeletal morphogenesis remain unclear. In this work, X-ray computed microtomography will be used to characterize the formation of skeletal elements during salamander development and regeneration. This could provide novel explanations of how the rod-shaped cartilages grow and acquire their shape under different constraints and conditions.
