On the project

Interictal epileptiform discharges (IED) are an electrophysiological manifestation of synchronous neuronal brain activity related to elevated brain excitability. IEDs are typical for patients with epilepsy. IED rates were found to be associated with biorhythmic patterns and with a higher risk of epileptic seizures. However, qualitative changes in the IED properties are still not well described. This project aims to describe qualitative IED changes related to circadian rhythms and epileptic seizures.
